The 7th International Festival of Renaissance and Baroque Music „Misiones de Chiquitos” in Bolivia

In April 2010 the Academic Choir of AMU will participate in the 7th International Festival of Renaissance and Baroque Music „Misiones de Chiquitos” in Bolivia. The choir will perform the work of Roque Ceruti “Visperas” (for 4 choirs and baroque orchestra) in the Santa Cruz Cathedral Church, as well as seven a cappella concerts in e.g. Concepcion, San Ignacio de Velasco or San Miquel.  The International Festival of Renaissance and Baroque Music took place for the first time in 1996. At present, this is the most important musical event in South America. The festival is held in 22 centres simultaneously over the course of a week, with tours of the impressive, monumental churches –set in the midst of the Bolivian savannah – the very same places where this music originated centuries ago and was performed and painstakingly preserved for centuries afterward.
